This notice describes data handling in APART: Flight Logbook for iPhone and iPad.
Optional automatic iCloud backup uses your Apple Account’s iCloud Drive documents, not CloudKit. It is backup and restore, not live synchronization between devices.
Your records stay with you
APART does not require an account and does not send your flight, profile, requirement or schedule records to Dustoff Designs or an app-operated server. The app has no advertising, tracking or third-party analytics SDKs. It does not request location, contacts, microphone, camera or HealthKit access.
Information you enter
APART stores your chosen birth month, aircraft, crew category, roles, FAC/readiness level and unit requirements on your device. Optional details include name, rank and unit. You may enter flight dates, times, hours, modes, duties, tail numbers, airports and notes; evaluation and flight-physical completion dates; and currency rules and qualifying dates. These entries support your personal logbook and progress calculations. Optional hour-credit details record crew-station allocations, eligible simulator portions and your device/eligibility reference. They do not add to total logged hours.
Imported files and schedules
Schedule import reads PDF, Word DOCX, Excel XLSX, CSV/TSV and supported images on your device. PDF/image text recognition uses Apple’s on-device tools. Your entered last name and optional first name/initial find possible matches, which you must review before saving. APART keeps only the personal flights you save; it does not retain the full imported schedule, other crew records, or extracted page text. The protected schedule and its matching-name preferences are excluded from backups. Detailed CAFRS XLSX imports also run on-device and save only the flights you explicitly select and confirm. APART does not keep the workbook or government identity fields. Original attachments remain wherever you saved them, such as Files or Mail. APART backup JSON and APART flight-log CSV imports are also processed on-device. You review the backup before replacing records or review CSV entries before adding them. Stable duplicates are skipped and conflicting CSV entries are held; source files remain in the location you selected.
Storage and backups
The logbook and profile use iOS-protected app storage and may be included in device backups under your Apple settings. The separate schedule store is excluded from device backups and is protected while the device is locked. Create backup saves a user-selected JSON file containing all logbook years, profile details, notes, requirements, results, currency rules and display theme. It excludes schedule entries, schedule matching preferences and reminders. The backup is not separately password-encrypted by APART; choose a trusted destination. Restore backup validates the file and asks before replacing logbook records; the existing schedule remains unchanged. A flight-log CSV can rebuild its exported flights and starting balances, but is not a complete app backup. Optional automatic iCloud backup requires your explicit consent. When enabled in an iCloud-capable build, APART writes the same logbook backup contents to your Apple Account’s iCloud Drive, using your iCloud storage. Apple handles storage and transfer; Dustoff Designs does not receive these backup files. Backups run after changes while APART is open; upload completion depends on iCloud availability and connectivity. APART shows the last confirmed uploaded backup, retains the latest three confirmed copies from this device plus a pending copy, and removes older confirmed copies from that device. Different devices keep separate copies; this is not live logbook synchronization. Automatic-backup consent and account-binding settings are local and excluded from backup. Restoring turns automatic backup off until you enable it again. Switching Apple Accounts requires confirmation again.
Sharing and temporary exports
You decide whether to share or save a flight-log CSV or filled closeout PDF through the system share sheet. Flight-log CSV exports include station/eligibility details and include detailed flight notes only when you enable that option. The closeout PDF contains saved profile information, flight-hour totals and recorded requirement completion dates. Official signatures and unrecorded administrative fields remain blank. Schedule entries are not included in either export. APART removes its temporary export after sharing completes or is dismissed, and clears interrupted temporary exports on the next launch. Copies saved or sent to a destination you choose remain subject to that destination’s storage, privacy and retention practices; APART cannot recall or delete them.
Reminders and external services
Optional local notifications require your permission. The reminder asks you to open Schedule without including your name, flight time or duty. You can turn reminders off in APART or change notification permission in device Settings. APART does not add events to Apple Calendar. Opening the company website or contacting support uses your browser or email service and their privacy practices. Apple may separately handle purchases, device backups and diagnostics according to your Apple settings.
Your choices and support
You can correct records, delete individual flights and scheduled entries, and change applicable requirements in the app. Settings → Backup, import & reset offers full logbook backup/restore and an explicitly confirmed reset. Reset clears local profile/logbook/requirement/currency records, the schedule, reminder and display preference, and returns to setup; an interrupted confirmed reset finishes when the app can access its protected files. Reset or deleting APART cannot remove copies already exported, sent, or stored in device backups. Schedule data is excluded from both APART backups and device backups. If you email support, Dustoff Designs receives what you choose to send; avoid including sensitive crew records or full unit schedules. Policy changes will be dated in the app and on its published privacy page. Turning automatic backup off, resetting APART or deleting the app does not delete existing iCloud backup files. You can remove those files using Files in iCloud Drive → APART → Backups.

Email info@dustoffdesigns.com for a privacy question about APART or information you have sent to us. A request to Dustoff Designs concerns information we received; we cannot remotely edit or recover records that remain only on your device.
Website support is separate
If you use our website support form, it collects your name, email, message, contact consent and any optional details or files you provide. Requests enter our private business inbox with access limited to authorized staff for manual review. Sending a support request does not subscribe you to marketing. Please do not send full unit schedules, private crew records or passwords.
The website uses OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare infrastructure for hosting, records and file storage. Providers may process connection and diagnostic information needed to operate and protect the service; submission limits use short-lived hashed connection identifiers. Optional alerts use Resend only when configured and contain a request reference and service category, not uploaded file contents. No automatic email confirmation or response time is promised.
No automatic deletion schedule is promised for support records or attachments. Records needed for agreed work or applicable recordkeeping obligations may be retained. Contact us to ask about, correct or request deletion of information you supplied, including your request reference when available. Requests are reviewed manually and do not promise immediate erasure from provider backups. This applies to information we receive, not records kept solely in your app or private backups.
